As if we weren't already excited enough for Dishoom's arrival in Leeds. Ahead of opening its doors on Vicar Lane this August, the much-loved restaurant has announced a collaboration with one of the city's favourite independents, Doh'hut, and it's every bit as indulgent as you'd hope.
For two weeks only, Leeds will be able to get a first taste of Dishoom's iconic house chai in doughnut form. Available from 13th to 26th July, the limited-edition creation brings together two of the city's most talked-about food brands, combining Dishoom's warming, spice-filled chai with Doh'hut's signature handmade doughnuts.
The result? A chai-sugared doughnut generously filled with silky chai-infused crème pâtissière, topped with a decadent chocolate truffle hiding a ginger chai caramel centre, before being finished with a scattering of crushed pistachios for a little crunch.
In other words, we'll be needing one immediately.
What makes this collaboration even better is the story behind it. Dishoom has built a reputation for celebrating the neighbourhoods it calls home, and rather than arriving in Leeds and keeping to itself, it's chosen to partner with one of the city's biggest independent success stories before it's even opened its doors.
Founded in Leeds, Doh'hut has earned a loyal following thanks to its handmade doughnuts, creative flavours and commitment to doing simple things exceptionally well. It feels like a partnership that makes perfect sense, and one that celebrates just how exciting Leeds' food scene has become.
The collaboration also gives us another reason to count down the days until Dishoom officially arrives in the city.
The Leeds café will begin its soft launch from 3rd August, with diners able to enjoy 50% off food before the official opening on 14th August.
Once open, guests can expect all of Dishoom's most-loved dishes, including the legendary Bacon Naan Roll, Chicken Ruby, House Black Daal and Pistachio Kulfi, alongside its famous house chai that inspired this very doughnut.
The limited-edition chai doughnut will be available exclusively from Doh'hut in Trevelyan Square from 13th - 26th July, priced at £4.75.
