A day at Nirvana Spa – the ultimate Berkshire reset

If you’re anything like me, Nirvana Spa has probably been on your “I really need to book that” list for a while. It’s one of those places you see pop up again and again, known for its beautiful spa facilities and calming atmosphere, and when I finally visited recently, it felt like the perfect escape from everyday life. Safe to say, it completely delivered.

Tucked away in the Berkshire countryside, Nirvana Spa feels like a hidden sanctuary from the moment you arrive. Surrounded by lush greenery and peaceful surroundings, it instantly sets the tone for a day of switching off and properly unwinding.

Check-in was smooth and relaxed, and within minutes we were wrapped up in robes and ready to explore. There’s something about that first moment stepping into a spa, leaving everything else behind, that just feels like a reset in itself.

The spa itself is incredibly impressive, with a wide range of facilities that make it easy to spend hours moving between different spaces without ever getting bored.

One of the highlights has to be the pool areas. There’s a large main pool with a tranquil, almost Mediterranean feel, alongside smaller hydrotherapy pools with massage jets that are perfect for easing tension. The Dead Sea salt flotation pool is also a must-try, it’s such a unique experience and leaves you feeling completely weightless and relaxed.

The thermal areas are just as good. From saunas and steam rooms to more unique experiences like the crystal steam room and tepidarium, every space feels thoughtfully designed to help you unwind. It’s the kind of place where you lose track of time in the best way.

Around the spa there are plenty of loungers and quiet areas to relax in between, which makes it easy to slow the pace down and really enjoy the whole experience rather than rushing from one thing to the next.

One of the standout parts of the visit for me was the treatment. I had a 35-minute massage, and it was exactly what I needed. The therapist instantly made me feel at ease, and the treatment itself was the perfect balance of relaxing and effective, working out tension while still feeling indulgent. It left me feeling noticeably lighter and completely switched off, which is really all you want from a spa day.

We also made time for lunch during our visit, which was the perfect mid-day pause. The food offering is fresh, light and exactly what you want at a spa, nourishing without feeling heavy. It’s ideal for keeping that relaxed, feel-good energy going throughout the day.

What really stood out overall was how calm and well-maintained everything felt. Despite being a popular spot, it never felt overcrowded or hectic, and there was always a sense of space and tranquillity.

The staff were also lovely throughout, friendly, helpful and always on hand if needed, without ever feeling intrusive. It all adds to that effortless, relaxed atmosphere that makes the whole experience feel seamless.

By the time it was time to leave, I felt genuinely refreshed, both physically and mentally, which is exactly what you hope for from a spa day. Nirvana Spa is the kind of place that works whether you’re celebrating something special or just in need of a proper reset - highly recommend!
