If you're looking for a night out in Leeds that doesn't revolve around bars or clubs, let us point you in the direction of Glee Club.
We headed down for the Friday Night Comedy show and genuinely laughed from the moment we sat down until we walked out the door.
Tucked away in the heart of Leeds city centre, the venue has a cool, intimate feel that immediately sets the tone for the evening. You feel close enough to the stage that you're part of the action, but without it ever feeling intimidating. It's the kind of venue where every table gets a great view and the atmosphere builds as the night goes on.
The Friday Night Comedy show features a compère and three stand-up comedians, meaning there's a brilliant mix of comedy styles throughout the evening.
On our visit, the compère had the whole room laughing before the first act had even stepped on stage, and all three comedians were hilarious in completely different ways. We left wondering why we don't go to comedy nights more often.
One thing we really loved was how easy the whole evening felt. You simply order your food and drinks straight from your phone to your table, so there's no missing punchlines while you're queueing at the bar.
Naturally, we made the most of it. We ordered plenty of drinks throughout the evening, alongside popcorn chicken and chips, hot churros that were dangerously good, popcorn and ice cream. Looking around the room, the pizzas and burgers coming out of the kitchen also looked seriously tempting, and we'll definitely be giving those a try next time.
What makes Glee Club such a great night out is that it's more than just somewhere to watch comedy. It's somewhere you can settle in for the whole evening. Good food, plenty of drinks and two-and-a-half hours of non-stop entertainment make it feel like brilliant value, whether you're planning a date night, celebrating a birthday or just looking for something different to do with friends.
Leeds has so many great places to eat and drink, but it's always nice to find somewhere that offers something a little different.
