Leeds’ food scene is about to get even better.
Award-winning Sardinian restaurant Domo is officially opening in the city, bringing a completely new style of dining to the South Bank. Set to launch at the iconic Tower Works, this will be the brand’s second site following the success of its Sheffield restaurant, and it already feels like one to have on your radar.
Founded in 2019 by husband-and-wife duo Sarah and Raffaele Busceddu, Domo was built around a love of traditional Sardinian food culture. The Leeds opening stays true to that, with a menu focused on rustic, authentic dishes that you don’t tend to see outside of Sardinia, all made entirely in-house.
The new space sits right on the canal and looks set to be just as much about the setting as it is the food. Inside, there’ll be around 95 covers alongside outdoor seating, making it ideal for everything from long dinners to more casual daytime visits. It’ll be an all-day spot, with a daily lunch menu, takeaway options and even weekend breakfasts.
The interiors sound like they’re going to be a big part of the experience too. Expect a central cocktail bar, open kitchen and a space filled with Sardinian craftsmanship, from hand-woven baskets made by Raffaele’s family to traditional masks and artwork sourced directly from the island. Even the tables are bespoke, finished with authentic Sardinian tiles, which gives you a bit of an idea of the level of detail going into this.
If you’ve been to the Sheffield restaurant, you’ll already know the kind of atmosphere to expect; relaxed, warm and very much centred around food that’s meant to be shared and enjoyed properly.
With Leeds’ independent food scene continuing to grow, Domo feels like a really exciting addition, especially in an area like South Bank that’s quickly becoming one to watch.
The restaurant is set to open this Spring, so consider this your early heads up before it inevitably becomes one of the harder tables to get in the city.
