Uyare’s Rooftop Bar Might Just Be Leeds’ Best Spot for Drinks This Spring

Some places just get it right - and Uyare’s rooftop bar is one of them.

Set above Victoria Leeds, it’s already known for its South Indian eats, but the bar and terrace deserve their own moment. It’s one of those spaces that feels made for drinks - open views across the city, a good crowd, and an atmosphere that shifts easily from early evening into something a bit more lively.

We visited for their spring social and the vibe was exactly what you want from a Leeds rooftop - busy in the right way, great music, and that golden hour light hitting the skyline.

What works is that it’s not just somewhere you go before dinner. You can book purely for drinks, and it stands up on its own. It’s an easy choice for everything from after-work drinks to birthdays, or just a last-minute plan that turns into a full evening.

The space itself is polished without trying too hard, with heated outdoor seating that means it actually works beyond the two weeks of summer we usually get. It’s the kind of place you stay longer than you planned.

There’s also a new cocktail and bar food menu landing for the season, and it leans into something a bit more interesting than the usual. The drinks take inspiration from Kerala, using kitchen techniques like spice tempering and savoury pairings, so they feel more layered and less predictable than your standard cocktail list.

Food-wise, it’s all designed for sharing - masala fried cauliflower, fried squid, marinated king prawns - the kind of plates that work just as well alongside drinks as they do as a full meal.

They’re also introducing weekend bottomless brunch and monthly jazz nights, which should give the space a slightly different feel depending on when you go.

With Easter and the May bank holidays coming up, it’s definitely one to have in mind - especially if you’re after somewhere with a bit of energy, good music and a setting that actually feels like an occasion.

Uyare opened in 2025 from the team behind Tharavadu, and it carries that same attention to detail, just with a more elevated, rooftop feel.

Leeds isn’t short of places to go out, but this feels like one that’s found its lane quickly. If you’re looking for somewhere for drinks that feels a bit more considered, this is it.
